Mr. Biplov Bhandari is a social and humanitarian technology practitioner, with experience in community engagement and empowerment. He is currently the GIS Application Developer for the SERVIR-Mekong Project. Previously, he worked as a research associate at Asian Institute of Technology, a geomatics engineer at Kathmandu Living Labs and as consultant for Practical Actions and Development Gateway. Additionally, he is member and developer at Sahana Software Foundation and International Coordination Council Member at AstaJa Research and Development Center. Biplov has extensively supervised and trained in the community level mapping using OpenStreetMap.
He was one of four young surveyors from around the world to be awarded with the FIG Foundation Grant for attending at FIG Working Week 2017 in Finland. He was also attended the 7th ICCM conference in Philippines in 2016 as a speaker and fellow. Biplov and his team also won the International Space Apps Challenge at Kathmandu in 2014. Biplov earned his Bachelors of Engineering degree from Kathmandu University in Nepal.
