DR. RISHIRAJ DUTTA

Capacity Development Lead, ADPC

Dr. Rishiraj Dutta is a Disaster Risk Reduction Practitioner and Researcher working towards strengthening adaptive capacity to climate change and providing practical insights for integrating climate perspectives to community-based adaptation. He currently serves as a Capacity Development Lead for the SERVIR-SEA program at ADPC, providing support to training and capacity building activities in the region.​

With over twelve years of experience, Dr. Dutta has been working in the field of climate change, climate risk management and early warning systems with the aim to reduce disaster risk in the South, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. He has served in the UN including the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and various other international organizations including ADPC and have effectively contributed to disaster preparedness and climate resilience. 

Dr. Dutta holds a doctorate degree in Applied Geoinformation and Earth Observation, a master’s degree in Geoinformatics from the University of Twente in The Netherlands and a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Assam Agricultural University in Assam, India. As a researcher and practitioner, he has also contributed extensively to international research and have published several papers in reputed international journals, contributed to book chapters and also contributed extensively to drought management initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
