The proposal to establish the AHC was presented to the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST) during their 71st meeting held on 26 October 2016. COST noted the multi-disciplinary and cross-cutting nature of the proposed center and suggested that collaboration with relevant stakeholders be explored.
To understand more on the AHC, the workshop on Establishing AHC aims to identify AHC function and role of stakeholders, introduce, promote and create mutual understanding and agreement on establishing AHC among ASEAN member countries, relevant partners and ASEAN sectoral bodies; ASEAN COST, ASEASN Working Group on Water Resource Management under ASEAN Committee on Environment.
As part of this workshop, Dr. Peeranan Towashiraporn, Chief of Party for SERVIR-Mekong in the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) was a keynote speaker on the importance of science and technology implementation for disaster risk management.
