Aekkapol has a solid background in environmental science, soil science, and GIS. During the past 15 years, he has utilized the advancement of GIS technology for the benefit of environmental management processes, land suitability study, decision making, soil and ecosystem services modeling. He has worked in Thailand, and throughout Lower Mekong Basin. Prior to joining ADPC and SERVIR-Mekong, Aekkapol worked as a GIS Specialist for Climate Change and Adaptation Initiative Programme, Mekong River Commission (MRC), where he deployed skills on a number of projects including trend analysis of historical climate using reanalysis and observation data, basin-wide assessment of climate change impact on ecosystem services, climate change species exposure modeling using Python scripts, and regional technical training. Aekkapol’s passion on GIS programming has fueled his interests in Google Earth Engine and GIS web applications.
